Our Grand doors will be green again after many years of grime. Here's a pic of the painters working on the green doors at the northern end of the building. Twenty-six missing 'knobs' will be replaced in the process. Works are still in progress, so stay tuned for some 'after' pics ...

Last weekend new plants approved by the Committee of Management were placed in the main foyer at the foot of the Grand stairwell. They look terrific! The palms are in self-watering pots, and managed by the plant company, so please do not think of watering them yourself. Beautifying the main foyer has added another dimension to the building! The tiler has finished laying tiles in the northern foyer. The carpet there was in poor condition, and the foyer has been restored to its original form: with a tiled floor. The upgrade on the lift doors is now completed. Check out the smoother digital door mechanisms. Here's a couple of pics of the work in progress: one of the new door mechanisms awaiting installation, and the lift technician installing a mechanism on a fourth floor door.

So the Run for the Kids is underway to raise money for the Children's Hospital. The Grand is en route, and here's a pic of a few of the many thousand runners passing by. There are two course options: a 5.2 km course and a longer 14.5 km one. Wow! What an afternoon yesterday!! A severe storm blew over Melbourne at about 3 pm, dumping hailstones on the city followed by torrential rain. The Southern Cross Station's roof was damaged as hailstones broke through the convex plastic 'bubbles' between the roof sections.
